Parent's Night Out is offered as a service to MOL families and friends (children attending PNO do not have to be enrolled in MOL - you friends are welcome to sign up, too). Parents will enjoy a night out while children enjoy a fun evening of musical games and activities. Children are welcome to bring sleeping bags and pillows - we will be watching a family-friendly movie.
Activities
Children will enjoy activities such as dancing, singing, playing instruments, storytelling, arts and crafts, games, group sing-a-longs at the piano, teacher and private lesson student "mini-recitals," playing instruments, musical theater activities, and a family-friendly movie.
Instruments being used include drums, bongos, tambourines, rattles, jingles, rhythm sticks, sand-blocks, the metallophone, glockenspiel, resonator bars, and keyboard, and piano.
Activities are fun and education-based to promote musical, social, physical, emotional, and intellectual development.

PNO Staff
Our staff is comprised of established professionals in the fields of music and education. They are trained Musikgarten of Lexington teachers and assistant teachers. Sign-ups will be done in advance to keep our child/teacher ratio small. Some teachers are also available for childcare before 5:30 or after 9:30 with prior planning; please call for more information and pricing if you need to schedule this service.
What to Bring / Snacks
We will serve a snack at each PNO (popcorn, cookies, etc.), but you are welcome to send your child's own personal snack. If your child has specific food allergies or pertinent medical conditions, please list them on the Registratio Form. Although we do serve a snack, students should have eaten dinner before they arrive. Students should bring a pillow and blanket or sleeping bag for the movie. Students under the age of 5 should bring a change of clothes in case theirs become soiled with food or art. Please send a full supply of bottles, diapers, diaper wipes, pull-ups, etc. for younger children.
Drop-off and Pick-up
You can drop off your child at 5:30 or anytime after. Pick-up is anytime before the end for that particular date. A parent or guardian must sign-in and sign-out each child. Some teachers are also available for childcare before or after regular hours with prior planning.
Cost
PNO is offered from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. You can use as much or as little of that time as you wish. Your Registration Form and the charge of $20 per child is due by the Tuesday prior to that PNO. We recommend that you enroll early, as most dates fill up weeks in advance. The price includes all of the musical activities, arts and crafts, games, snack, a movie, etc.
If you have a family emergency or your child becomes ill and is unable to attend on a pre-registered night, please contact us as soon as possible before that night. We can then hold your payment for use on another PNO evening at a later date. Otherwise, if you need to cancel a pre-registered date, you must notify us no later than the Tuesday prior in order to reschedule for another time.
Security
For safety reasons we will be locking our front doors around 7:00 - we don’t want strangers to be able to wander into the building at night. At each PNO parents and guardians will be given the cell phone number of the teachers for that night. When you return to pick up your child, please call us and we’ll open the door. Our back doors will remain locked the entire time. As always, we feel your child’s safety is of utmost importance.
